Machi’s interests in modern art, particularly in sculpture and minimalism, influence her work. Jewellery has been a full time pursuit since early 2007, with work being shown at galleries, fairs and exhibitions. Machi was Artist in Residence at South Hill Park Arts Centre in Bracknell until the end of 2011.
During her two-year residency at South Hill Park, Machi distilled her modern style into a core collection. It displays an aesthetic with clean lines that contrasts silver and gold. Influenced by the simplicity of forms of early modern art, fundamental shapes are placed in subtle relationships with one another. The gold sphere provides a sense of tension or playfulness by balancing on the curve or peeking out from behind the silver.
